5 Ways to Overcome Confidence Issues as a Business Owner

As a business owner, there are certain expectations placed on us, and whether we sell products or services, people expect us to be a confident business owner. But why?

It’s easier to buy off someone who is confident in themselves, their business, their products and their services. If someone said to you…

“I think it might be the best ” you wouldn’t necessarily buy – we need that reassurance or promise.

If someone said…

“This is most AMAZING of the century and you don’t wanna miss out!” Or “This is the number 1 , guaranteed to change your life”

More people are likely to buy.

BUT…

It can be really difficult to make such a statement and put that much trust in yourself, your business, your products and your services if you don’t have the belief or confidence.

If you are not very confident as a business owner, there are 5 ways you can start to change that today!

  1. Do some mild exercise that will soothe your mind – like yoga, go for a walk, or a meditation followed by some stretches, and while you’re doing that, think of 5 things you are grateful for. Write them down!
  2. Remove yourself from the negativity and explore what YOU really want for your business. Go back to basics and really explore your roots and remember your ‘why’ – why did you start out in business in the first place?
  3. It’s time to set some goals. In step 2, you wrote down what you really want for your business and now it’s time to turn them into goals. What is it you’re really aiming to get where you want to be in business? Having clear direction can help you build your confidence because you’re prepared for the situation ahead of you.
  4. Break it down and assess your barriers. In step 3, you came up with some goals to help give you direction, but if you’re not confident, you need more than goals. The first thing to do is break each goal down into simpler objectives so you know the steps you need to take to achieve that goal. When you’ve done that, look through the objectives and assess them honestly – is it something you can do easily? Are there any that will cause you a problem? Do you have any doubts? Then think about ‘why’ these things are an issue… Respond to your self-doubts – so if you think you’re not ‘qualified’ to do something, write down why you are or what you can do to feel more qualified. Often it’s simpler than you think – attending some training, an online course (often free), researching for self-development or other simple actions can prevent or stop the self-doubt.
  5. Remember, ‘everything can be figured out.’ This is a concept you should live by and you should remind yourself of this every single day. You need to first build up your awareness of your self-awareness issues. So if you start thinking you ‘can’t’ do something (or other negative thoughts that are squashing your confidence), remember that you can figure it out. Once you start to recognise the barriers that are holding you back when it comes to your confidence, the sooner you can work it out. This isn’t something that goes away overnight, but it’s certainly a way to begin to overcome. The more you overcome, the more confident you will get. Over time, you will change your perception, and remember, perception is everything!
