How Can Sellable Content Grow My Business, Quick?

There are so many ways to use sellable content to grow your business, as it draws in extra income streams with little work required. Let’s explore some of the possibilities when it comes to sellable content…

What is sellable content?

Sellable content is content you own, such as various forms of written content (such as email/website/sales page/landing page templates, course content, books (including ebooks), papers, and resources), images, videos, scripts, guides, graphics or images, and training etc… that you own or have created, that others (namely your customers or clients) can buy from you.

How can sellable content help me grow my business?

Sellable content basically works in a similar way to a lead magnet, except you are creating a digital product that you can sell over and over again. It’s usually something that’s low-cost and evergreen, so it takes minimum effort to create or maintain. Once it’s created, it’s something that you can sell over and over again, to multiple people.

Sellable content can also help strengthen your position as an industry expert. For instance, if you write a book about your niche subject and it’s in line with your business, then the people who buy it find it useful, you’re strengthening your position and people will then recommend it to others.

You can also create multiple income streams from your sellable content book. Let’s stay with the book example for now…

  • So, a book can be made into an audio book (this can actually be done through Amazon audible directly and there are some who will work for loyalties, rather than a one-off fee, so you have options here).
  • You can also create a workbook, low content book, or other resources to accompany your book
  • You could create a course based on your book, but use visuals and videos, in addition to the book

Now, I know a lot of my audience members don’t want to write a book or a course, but want to write the bear minimum, however, you don’t actually need to be a writer these days to write a book. You can simply put an outline together of what you want to write and hire a ghostwriter to do this for you. There are many low-cost writers who will help you produce a 20,000-30,000 word book, which is an ideal book to show off your expertise. It’s still essentially your book – you will own it and it’s based on your knowledge and topics. A good ghostwriter will also write in your voice and ensure your book is in line with your core values, to help you connect with your ideal client and audience.

Just to provide you with another example, if you have produced a lot of videos to increase your audiece in the early days that give information and value, you can put them together to create a course. You could then create accompanying workbooks so your clients get something extra.

The truth is, the content you create can always help you grow your business, because every time you create a social media post, a product, or a blog post, you’re connecting with and growing, your audience. Content helps us become more visible, and the more visible we are, the more well-known we become in our field and eventually, we become known as an ‘expert’. The larger the audience you have (obviously, they have to be the right type of audience for your business), the more chance you have of making sales later which means you’re beginning to scale and grow your business.

Growing your audience isn’t always easy and it’s something I struggled with for many years. My advice is to keep going, keep posting, keep being visible and eventually, you’ll start to scale and grow – but if you want to do it faster, you need to be consistent, you need a lead magnet that relates to your business, and if you start to produce low-cost sellable content, you’ll start to increase your authority as an expert.

You got this!

Much love, Janet XOXO
