How to Structure your Blog Posts for Success

There are four main parts to a successful blog post and in this post, we’ll talk through the structure so that you are able to create compelling blog posts, to publish on your epic blog. Many of my clients tell me that they haven’t added a blog to their website because they don’t know how to write an effective blog post. Once you have this formula down, writing for your blog becomes easier – all you have to do is choose your topic and subtopics!

The first important component for any blog post is your post title. Your title is going to introduce the article’s main idea. the more compelling your title, the more traffic you’ll drive to your site. Personally, I have a plug-in downloaded on my website that analyzes blog titles and headlines. The more specific, to the point, and yet interesting or emotional you are, the higher you score. It’s a great little tool, and there are similar plug-ins available on most websites.

The second part of your blog post is an introduction. The introduction doesn’t have to be long, but it’s basically going to tell the reader what you’re writing about. Introduce your topic by discussing the resolution your blog post provides. For example, this blog post instructs you on how to structure your blog posts and it’s aimed at people who haven’t started a blog, because they believe they don’t know how to write blog posts. I told you at the beginning that writing becomes easier once you’re familiar with this four-step formula.

The third part of your blog post is where you go in-depth about the topic you’re discussing. While you are going in-depth here, remember this is a blog post, so don’t write a novel. Many experts suggest that a good word count is 1,000-2,000, but some blog posts are only 300 words and sometimes include a lot of images. In comparison, some businesses have tried and tested blog posts and found that their posts of 2,500 perform better than the shorter posts. It really depends on your blog topic and audience. So don’t be afraid to experiment when it comes to writing the body of your blog post.

The final part of your blog post should be the conclusion, as this is where you wrap up the main ideas of your post. Remind people what they’ve learned – for instance, in this blog post, you’ve learned how to structure your post and below, I’m going to tell why it was important you do this!

When writing a blog post, you may be sharing advice, providing tips, or detailing some other type of helpful information, and if you provide this in a well-structured and logical way, it appears more professional and valuable. This will help you build a community of loyal followers and improve levels of engagement.
